Croatian National Theatre Ivan Pl. Zajc
CROATIAN NATIONAL THEATRE IVAN PL. ZAJC
The tradition of continuous theatre life in Rijeka is more
than two centuries long.
In 1991, the Theatre has been declared a national
theatre, and in 1994 it received its current name – Croatian National Theatre
Ivan Pl. Zajc. Since 1946, with its four art departments (Croatian drama,
Dramma italiano, Opera with symphonic elements and Ballet) and more than 50
years of their continuous work, the Theatre set very high theatrical and
artistic criteria and became one of the leading theatres in Croatia.
Their
repertoar is very well thought out, with performances of freshly read drama,
opera and ballet classics or works from Croatian drama and opera inheritance.
National works, especially contemporary, are performed also.
