Abstract:
Project incorporates two different streams of research within dynamic capability of strategic manager; cognitive managerial capabilities from the field of strategic management and micro foundations of managerial capabilities from the field of quality management. Both research streams have the same aim- to understand the sources and how to create and sustain competitive advantage of Croatian managers.
Croatia held 74th position on the rank of WEF global competitiveness in 2016 with the tendency to stagnate. Classic analysis of competitiveness pointed the problem of competitiveness on the firm level, more precisely problem of the lack of resources needed for the act of creation and sustainability of competitive advantages. Proposed project suggests deeper level of analysis, micro foundations of dynamic capability which can explain and point out the quality of competitiveness of Croatian economy on the cellular level.
Quality management is dominantly researched from the technical perspective or perspective of how to improve business processes. Up to now, research concluded general trends, but not the dynamic managerial competences that should be the foundation of quality. Additionally, innovation of this project lies down in the fact that research in strategic management was never focused on the principles of cognition in strategy. By using suggested contemporary approach in strategic management, it is possible to comprehend micro foundations of managerial competences, namely their cognitive foundation, which were not researched before.
The priority of this project is to offer support for PhD students in their early stage of career when they create and implement scientific research connected to their research. Project will assure domestic and international mentor capacities for giving support and direction for PhD students. Additionally, this project will support PhD students with professional and scientific training within the frame of this project.
