According to the United Nations data, Croatia has the ninth oldest population in the world. In addition to other negative demographic trends, such as emigration, the Croatian economy faces challenges that mostly affect not only the labor market but other macroeconomic segments as well. This research tests and analyzes the interdependence of negative demographic trends and the labor market by using quantitative and statistical methods. Aside to that, it also explains the paradoxes that occur as a result of negative demographic trends such as improvement of some of the macroeconomic indicators, in terms of reducing unemployment for example. Also, the impact of educational demographic structures on the labor market offer is analyzed quantitatively and statistically. The significance of this research is based on the application of quantitative methods for obtaining new information on the consequences of recent demographic changes on the Croatian economy.
