Food and Community

Since March 2018, the Association for the Culture of Dialogue (CeKaDe) has been partnering with the Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Rijeka and with the Green Action "Food and Community" project with the aim of involving University of Rijeka students in socially useful work on creating innovative solutions for the problem of insufficient donation and excessive throw of food in the city of Rijeka and in Croatia.

The project involves 78 students from the University of Rijeka, and the project introduces changes to the 10 curriculum and establishes a lifelong learning program "Food Discarding Models". Throughout the project, students will help organizations to promote advocacy and professional capacities and learn how active citizenship can influence solving real social problems.

Through the project, a Food Working Group has been set up, aiming to involve local authorities and relevant stakeholders in solving problems of food donation and excessive throw of food in Rijeka. The working group consists of representatives of the CeKaDe Association, Rijeka University of Rijeka, Rijeka2020, the Center for Advanced Studies of the South East Europe University of Rijeka and the Green Action.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund and is co-financed by the Office by the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
