Information on classes during the summer semester 2021/ 2022
Pursuant to the Recommendation for the Execution of Teaching Activities at the University of Rijeka in 2021/ 2022 as of 1 September, 2021, the Recommendations for the Execution of Teaching Activities at Higher Education Institutions during the Covid-19 Pandemic with the Implementation of Anti-epidemic Measures in 2021/ 2022 as of 7 October 2021, and the Guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Education on the Implementation of Study Programmes in 2021/ 2022 as of 26 August 2021, classes at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka will be organized in the following way:
1) Full time studies. Lectures/ seminar classes/ practicum classes, continuous assessments and final exams will be held on-site (at the Faculty premises).
a. Classes followed by one study programme only (e.g. International Business - held in English language) and courses held only for students of one study programme (e.g. study programme’s obligatory course) will be held every week on-site (at the Faculty premises).
b. Due to the measures proposing that there can be up to 100 students in the study hall without checking the COVID Certificate, obligatory and elective courses taken by students of all or more than one study programme (usually courses offered in the first and second study year, as well as some courses offered to senior years) will be held in the following way:
- in the first week, students of Management (MN), Economics (EK) and Marketing (MAR) will attend classes on-site, whereas all other students will attend classes online
- in the second week, students of Entrepreneurship (POD), Finance (FIN) and International Business (MP) will attend classes on-site, whereas all other students will attend classes online
- from third week on, students will attend classes according to the same schedule.
. Notwithstanding the foregoing, continuous assessments and final exams will be held entirely on-site.
2) Part-time studies:
a. For Distance learning students (studying online), classes will be held online.
b. For regular part-time students, classes will be held on-site (at the Faculty premises).
c. For courses held on-site and online at the same time, it may be possible for students to take the classes online.
3) Differential programmes: Lectures/ seminar classes/ practicum classes/ continuous assessments/ final exams will be held online.
4) Postgraduate specialist and doctoral studies: Lectures/ seminar classes/ practicum classes/ final exams will be held on-site (at the Faculty premises).
Epidemiological measures will be strictly implemented in the following way:
- Students will have their temperature measured at the entrance to the Faculty. Only students whose temperature is lower than 37.2 °C will be allowed to enter the Faculty premises.
- Students must wear face masks at all times.
- At the beginning of each class, students in the hall will receive a signature list from the professor, which will be kept for the needs of epidemiologists and expert bodies if COVID-19 infection occurs.
- If infection occurs, signature lists will be delivered to the epidemiological unit. In such event, respective students will in most cases be notified of the self-isolation measure.
- In case of symptoms, students are required to fill out a form for reporting symptoms available on the website of the Faculty.
- A member of the teaching staff who has been told to self-isolate will be holding all his/ her classes online for two weeks. Students will be notified via Merlin.
In the Faculty building, it is important to implement and respect general measures to prevent the spread of infection.
In order to ensure the time needed for the implementation of hygienic measures between lectures, students attending classes at the Faculty (in study halls) should come to the Faculty on time, in order for classes to be held according to schedule.
All information will be announced via Merlin under the enrolled courses and/ or under the separate course named "Referada”. At Merlin, within each individual course, the teaching staff will give instructions on how and via which link online classes will be held.
The Reading room is equipped with 28 computers that can be used for attending online classes. It is recommended that students bring their own headphones in order to reduce noise (e.g. mobile headphones).
The present recommendations will be adjusted in accordance with the development of the epidemiological situation and the decisions of the Civil Protection Headquarters.
