Information on classes during the winter semester 2020/ 2021
Pursuant to the Decision on the Execution of Teaching Activities in 2020/ 2021, adopted by the University of Rijeka Senate at its 44th session as of 21 July, 2020, the Recommendations and Guidelines for the Execution of Teaching Activities at Higher Education Institutions in the Winter Semester, developed by the National Council for Science, Higher Education and Technological Development as of 28 August 2020, and the Recommendations for the Execution of Teaching Activities at the University of Rijeka in 2020/ 2021, developed as of 3 September, 2020, classes at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka will be organized in the following way:
1) Full time studies. Lectures/ seminar classes/ practicum classes will be held synchronously on-site (at the Faculty premises) and online. Continuous assessments and final exams will be held on-site.
a. Obligatory courses will be held synchronously on-site and online.
b. Seminar and practicum classes for obligatory courses can be attended on-site or online.
c. Elective courses will be held online only. Continuous assessments and final exams will be held on-site.
d. Students are advised to regularly attend classes online whenever possible.
Students will not be allowed to enter the Faculty premises in case:
- they have symptoms of an infectious disease (e.g. fever, cough, difficulty breathing, changes to the sense of smell or taste, sore throat, stomach disorders, vomiting),
- they have been told to self-isolate,
- they have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
In the Faculty building, it is important to implement and respect general measures to prevent the spread of infection.
Epidemiological measures will be strictly implemented in the following way:
- Students will have their temperature measured at the entrance to the Faculty. Only students whose temperature is lower than 37.2 °C will be allowed to enter the Faculty premises.
- Students must wear face masks at all times.
- At the beginning of each class, students in the hall will receive a signature list from the professor, which will be kept for the needs of epidemiologists and expert bodies if COVID-19 infection occurs.
- If infection occurs, signature lists will be delivered to the epidemiological unit. In such event, respective students will in most cases be notified of the self-isolation measure.
- A member of the teaching staff who has been told to self-isolate will be holding all his/ her classes online for two weeks. Students will be notified via Merlin.
In the Faculty building, it is important to implement and respect general measures to prevent the spread of infection.
In order to ensure the time needed for the implementation of hygienic measures between lectures, students who plan to attend classes at the Faculty (in study halls) should come to the Faculty on time, in order for classes to be held according to schedule.
All information will be announced via Merlin under the enrolled courses and/ or under the separate course named "Referada”. At Merlin, within each individual course, the teaching staff will give instructions on how and via which link online classes will be held.
The Reading room is equipped with 28 computers that can be used for attending online classes. It is recommended that students bring their own headphones in order to reduce noise (e.g. mobile headphones).
