Law and lawyer - factors within society

The eleventh panel within the project "21 Paths to Succes" within the thematic unit Women in the Legal Prossefion carries the title "Law and Lawyer – Factors within Society", and it will be held on Thursday, March 31, starting at 6 pm in DoubleTree by Hilton in Zagreb, with a live stream on the Entrio platform.

 

The panelists of this panel will be Renata Duka, Ružica Šimić Banović and Sandra Benčić, and a special guest is Gissou Nia, and the panel will be moderated by the initiators of the project Vedrana Likan and Natalija Labavić

 

Ružica Šimić Banović holds a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. As a Chevening scholar, she finished her postgraduate studies in Public Policy at King's College, University of London. Prior her arrival in the academic community, she worked in the private sector and was an advisor to National Council for Competitiveness. Her education from a series of seminars, workshops and conferences in the US and Europe, as well as her business experience, inspired her to research institutional changes in (post)transition countries of Eastern Europe. She is the author or co-author of around 40 scientific and professional papers based on her research interests which include institutional interaction in a post-socialist business environment with a focus on reform and the "benefit economy", migrant entrepreneurship and recent migration trends in Eastern Europe.

 Ružica is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb, co-leader of two projects under the sponsorship of the US Embassy, she is a member of several professional and alumni associations, the CEPOR research team, and a member of the UCL FRINGE Center.

 

Renata Duka graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Osijek, and she upgraded her professional development with educational programs, publications of professional papers, and lectures at professional conferences. She gained desirable experience by leading and participating in the work of numerous projects, essential for stronger economic growth. Renata joined Pevex in 2016 in the position of assistant to the president of the Legal Affairs Directorate. Tuda as a member of the Board, she is responsible for managing the work of the sectors of Expansion, Construction, and Maintenance, sector of the Legal Affairs, and the Administration Office. Previously, for three and a half years she carried the duty of Assistant Minister of Justice. Prior to the Ministry of Justice, she worked at the Commercial Court in Zagreb, the High Commercial Court of the Republic of Croatia and in the notary public.

 

Sandra Benčić graduated from the Faculty of Laz, University of Zagreb. She is a Croatian politician and civil rights activist. She is a member of Parliament, as part of the Club of 

Representatives of the Green-Left Bloc. She is president of committee for Environmental and Nature Protection and a member of the Committee for Justice. She is a member of the Center for Peace Studies where she worked until 2018, mostly on topics concerned with inequality and migration. She also did work on regional development and EU funds as a co-founder of one of the first consulting companies for EU funds in Croatia - Razbor, where she worked until 2010. Before she entered Parliament she worked as a lecturer in Algebra as well as an external expert of the Council of Europe on freedom of speech. She was a member of the Complaints Commission in the Ministry of the Interior and the Civil Society Development Council. She has been an active member of the Možemo! Platform since its establishment, and is currently the party's coordinator.
