The first doctorate was awarded under the Scandinavian model
Today
is a remarkable and a historical day at the University of Rijeka (UNIRI) and
Faculty of Economics and Business Rijeka (EFRI).
On
July 8th, 2019, the first doctorate was awarded under the Scandinavian model at
the Faculty of Economics Rijeka (EFRI), but at the same time it is the first PhD
thesis awarded at University of Rijeka. The Scandinavian doctoral model is a
novelty in Croatia since the doctoral thesis is composed of already published
scientific papers, but using only the scientific papers written as part of the
research at the PhD study, published after the enrollment into the PhD program.
These scientific papers are supplemented by a common introduction and joint
conclusion. Since the Faculty of Economics and business Rijeka is a member of
the prestigious European Association of Studies with the best PhD programs in
the field of economics and business economics (EDAMBA), it has been very active,
in the last few years, in promoting this type of doctoral
dissertations.Milan
Deskar Škrbić, PhD, under the mentorship of prof. Saša Drezgić (EFRI) and prof.
Hrvoje Šimović (Faculty of Economics Zagreb) defended his doctoral thesis in
English "MACROECONOMIC EFFECTS OF FISCAL POLICY ON SMALL OPEN ECONOMIES" in
front of the commission consisting of prof. Helene Blažić (EFRI, president),
assist.prof. Ana Grdović Gnip (Univerza na Primorskem, Slovenia) and
assist.prof. Maja Grdinić (EFRI).
