Croatian Health Economics Association

The Croatian Health Economics Association (CHEA) brings together researchers and professionals interested in how economic evidence can improve health and healthcare. Established in 2023 at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Rijeka (EFRI), CHEA connects the Croatian health economics community with colleagues across Europe.

Our aim is to strengthen health economics research and its use in decisions about healthcare funding, organisation and delivery. We encourage collaboration across institutions and support students and researchers at the start of their careers.

CHEA is Croatia’s national member organisation in the European Health Economics Association (EuHEA).

Croatian Health Economics Workshop

The Croatian Health Economics Workshop (CHEW) is CHEA’s annual scientific meeting, organised with EFRI and international partners. It brings together researchers from Croatia, Central and Eastern Europe and beyond to discuss economic research on health and healthcare.

Each accepted paper is read in advance by an assigned discussant and receives detailed feedback, followed by an open discussion. This format helps authors develop their work and gives early career researchers the opportunity to discuss their research with experienced colleagues.

CHEW 2026: 23–24 September · Hotel Lone, Rovinj, Croatia.
Keynote speaker: Professor Matt Sutton, University of Manchester and Monash University.
