Negotiations in an International Environment

EFRI International Business Workshops (EFRI IBW) is an internationally oriented, intensive learning programme designed to connect students and professionals in a global business environment.

The programme is based on a modular concept combining lectures, workshops, and practical activities focused on international business communication, negotiation skills, and the development of key professional competences required in a global business context. Teaching is delivered by domestic and international academics and business practitioners, ensuring a strong connection between theoretical knowledge and real-world business experience, complemented by an organised visit to a local company.

Participation in EFRI IBW is available both as a standalone programme and as part of Erasmus+ mobility, including Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP), in cooperation with partner universities.

In 2026, the programme marks its 10th anniversary, celebrated with an enhanced focus on business and international negotiation, enriched programme content, and the opportunity to participate both on-site and online.

Over the past decade, IBW has brought together more than 200 participants from a wide range of countries, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Slovenia, Congo, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, Finland, Russia, France, Cyprus, Venezuela, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Romania, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Greece, Israel, Palestine, Republic of North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, South Africa and Croatia.

EFRI IBW 2025 – It was such a great experience, I’ve learned a lot about negotiating and how to handle the process. The real-life experience of negotiating was very well organized and helpful for future cases.

Pina Centa,University of Ljubljana

IBW 2025 was a really valuable experience for me. It brought together international students, professors and business professionals, which made learning about negotiation more real and engaging. I especially liked the mix of teamwork and cultural exchange. The field trip to Hilton was one of the highlights for me, and there was also enough free time to enjoy Rijeka. The program showed how education can be practical, social and international at the same time.

EFRI IBW 2024 is the first international educational programme for me, which included not only theory and practice in the learning process, but also a wonderful time on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Rijeka, a city I visited for the first time, although I have been to other Croatian cities before, impressed me with its natural beauty and kind people. The organisation of the programme was top-notch, everything went according to schedule, special praise and applause to the organisers Valerija, Jakša and Tomislav. I not only deepened my knowledge in negotiation practices, but also met wonderful people.

Viktoriia Shulha (Ukraine)

That Workshop provides students with a lot of useful and interesting information as well as practical tasks. Professors and guest-lecturers were very professional, giving a lot of tips, advices and sharing their own experiences and knowledge. Our visit to the Hilton Hotel was also an awesome experience. So, I am very happy that I decided to participate in that program. Thank you.

Dale Molife (Zimbabwe)

I thoroughly enjoyed the business negotiations program in Rijeka Croatia. We were hosted by outgoing Croatian students and Tomislav whom I can offer sincere praise. As a former sales representative and future real estate intern negotiation and persuasion are my bread and butter- the work shops taught me I have so much to learn still. I recommend this course for anyone in the business sector.

The great thing about EFRI International Business Workshop is that it gives insight in practical way of doing business. As it is important to know theoretical part, it is also important to know how to execute it. This workshop helped me to know what I can expect from future business meetings and negotiations. And most important thing it thought me how to act in those situations.

We are very proud that our workshop participants improved their skills and also gained experience and learned new things that will help them in their future business careers.
