Marketing for Small Producers: From Tradition and Natural Resources to High Value-Added Products

If you are a passionate small producer, a creator of unique products such as jewelry, souvenirs, farm (family agricultural holding) products, or cosmetics, and you are looking for ways to increase your market visibility, attract new customers, or define the right price for your product—you are in the right place.

The Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka offers a lifelong learning program designed to help small producers whose products are connected to local tradition and natural resources achieve high market value. During the program, marketing experts and successful small producers will share tools and strategies to enhance the market success of your products.

A strong emphasis is placed on showcasing successful real-world examples and personal professional experiences, while continuously providing practical advice and actionable steps for improving participants’ businesses.

During the program, you will learn how to:

  • increase the visibility of your products among the relevant audience
  • enhance the value of your product
  • determine the right price for your products and (additional) services
  • use digital channels in a simple and effective way

Delivery and Course Content

The program consists of interactive lectures, workshops, and panel discussions and covers the following topics:

  • Strategic approach to the market
  • Digital marketing
  • Importance of product design and labeling
  • Selection of sales channels and pricing strategies
  • Experiential marketing
  • Small business development
  • Best practice examples

The program is planned to be delivered once a year over a period of 6 weeks, between November and March (weekday afternoons). Most sessions take place at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka, with a smaller portion delivered online.

The program is conducted in small groups (approximately 10 participants), and lectures are tailored to participants’ specific business activities. Through dialogue, workshops, and individual reflection, participants’ business challenges are addressed, and concrete steps for business improvement are proposed.

This structure requires a relatively small time commitment while still allowing sufficient time for reflection on how to apply the presented content, as well as for networking with other participants and lecturers.

The exact schedule (dates, topics, and locations) is published two weeks before the start of each cycle.

Target Groups

The program is intended for:

  1. Small producers of natural, traditional, handmade, homemade, craft, and similar products
  2. Current and future owners of family farms (OPGs)
  3. Artisans who wish to turn their hobby into a source of income
  4. Individuals who want to develop skills in marketing for small producers

The Rijeka Association of Craftsmen provides a voucher of €200 for its members and their family members (in accordance with the Association’s conditions).

In addition to the voucher, members and their families are entitled to additional discounts:

  • 10% discount for 4 participants → €334.46
  • 15% discount for 5–10 participants → €315.88
  • 20% discount for 11–15 participants → €297.30
