Students can also complete their Internship abroad and have considerable flexibility when choosing a host organisation. An internship outside Croatia offers experience in an international setting, opportunities to develop language and professional skills, and a chance to expand professional networks.
1. Finding an internship abroad
Students can find an internship through:
- an organised mobility programme, such as Erasmus+ or another exchange programme offered by the Faculty or University;
- an independent search for a host organisation using international internship portals, student networks, professional platforms or contacts in their field;
- an intermediary organisation offering paid or unpaid internships in the European Union or elsewhere.
Students can apply for advertised positions, send unsolicited applications or use services and databases available to international students.
2. Approval before departure
Regardless of how they find a host organisation, students must, before travelling abroad:
- obtain prior approval from the Professional Internship course coordinator;
- provide information about the host organisation, internship tasks and duration.
The process of collecting the required documents can begin only after the Faculty has approved the internship.
3. Proposing a host organisation abroad
Once students have found an organisation abroad, they must:
- propose it through the EFRI Internship Portal, following the same procedure as for organisations in Croatia;
- provide the required contact details and a description of the internship.
The Centre then reviews the organisation. If it meets the requirements, the Faculty begins the process of concluding an internship agreement, as it would with a host organisation in Croatia.
4. Concluding an agreement with the host organisation
Before an internship abroad can begin:
- the Faculty and the host organisation must sign a professional internship agreement;
- the host organisation must appoint a mentor;
- all administrative requirements must be completed.
Once the agreement has been signed, the same procedures apply as for internships in Croatia, including the internship referral, internship diary and evaluations.
5. Responsibilities during the Internship
Students must:
- follow the rules of their host organisation;
- complete and submit documentation through the Portal;
- communicate regularly with their mentor at the host organisation and their mentor at the Faculty;
- fulfil the same academic requirements as students completing internships in Croatia.
6. Completing the Internship
After the internship abroad:
- the mentor at the host organisation completes the evaluation documents through the Portal;
- the student submits all required forms;
- the Faculty reviews the documentation and records completion of the course.
