Databases

Types of Databases:

  • Full-text databases – contain full-text publications.
  • Bibliographic databases – contain information about works published in various sources. They are important for gaining insight into a specific research field. They do not include full-text documents.
  • Citation databases – contain information on citations of works published in various sources. They are used to gain insight into a specific research field and to track the impact of a particular work or author within that field. They do not include full-text documents.

Databases Subscribed to by EFRI

   ProQuest One Business

ProQuest One Business is a leading full-text database for business research, teaching, and learning. It provides access to more than 130 million full-text records, including scholarly and popular journals, newspapers, market research reports, dissertations, books, and streaming videos.

  The ProQuest One Business database can be accessed in two ways:

1.On computers and other devices connected to the Faculty network, it can be accessed directly via the following link: https://www.proquest.com/pq1business?accountid=208035

2.       For remote access, it is necessary to use an AAI identity, and the database can be accessed via the following link: https://search.proquest.com/shibboleth?accountid=208035

  Orbis Europe
Orbis Europe is a database containing company and financial information.

Note: The database can be used simultaneously by up to 5 users.

Databases Available via National Subscription

Portal elektroničkih izvora za hrvatsku akademsku i znanstvenu zajednicu is a portal of the National and University Library in Zagreb that provides access to databases licensed at the national level. If you are accessing it outside the Faculty network, you need to click on the “Proxy” option in the upper right corner and log in using your AAI identity.

The Portal also provides information on new resources and trial access available at the national level.

General Instructions for Accessing Databases Outside the EFRI Network:

If, when accessing a database, the system prompts you for a password (i.e. your IP address is not recognised as part of the academic network), or you receive a message stating that your IP address is “not recognised”, look for the option “Shibboleth user”. Then, under “Select your region or group”, choose “Croatian Research and Education Federation AAI@EduHr”.

In the final step, a login window will appear where you need to enter your AAI account credentials (username and password), after which the database interface will open.

  PLATFORMS

Statista It is a statistical data analysis tool that brings together national and international statistics and market data, providing access to more than 1.9 million statistics, forecasts, dossiers, reports, and infographics across 80,000 different topics from over 22,500 sources.

Through insights into market trends, company data, and analyses of consumer behaviour, users gain a comprehensive view of the business landscape.

Bibliographic and Citation Databases

Current Contents Connect is a bibliographic database that contains bibliographic information about academic papers. The reasons for its popularity include strict journal selection criteria, coverage of all scientific fields, frequent updates, author abstracts, author addresses, publisher names and addresses, the possibility to view the contents of individual journal issues, and additional keywords that improve search results. Current Contents Connect is not a citation database, but only a bibliographic database.

EconLit is a bibliographic database that contains information on journal articles, books, dissertations, and other works in the field of economics and related areas.

Journal Citation Reports provides citation data and information on the Impact Factor of individual journals. It covers more than 7,600 journals in the fields of biomedicine, natural sciences, technical sciences, and social sciences through the JCR Science Edition and JCR Social Sciences Edition.

Scopus is a bibliographic and citation database that indexes journals, book series, and conference proceedings from all scientific fields. It includes sources from around the world, including more than 130 current Croatian journals. Citation data is available from 1996 onwards.

SCImago Journal & Country Rank is a citation database that provides an overview of bibliometric indicators for journals indexed in the Scopus database.

Web of Science Core Collection — WoSCC is one of the databases available through the Web of Science platform. It is a bibliographic and citation database that covers all scientific fields and combines several citation indexes.

Full-Text Databases

JSTOR offers a range of thematic collections covering economics, management, organisation, finance, marketing, labour, and employment. Subscribed papers are available in full text. Access is provided to the Arts & Sciences I–VIII and Health & General Sciences collections.

Springer Journals is a journal collection containing more than 2,000 titles covering all scientific fields. The collection is available through the Springer Nature Link platform.

Taylor & Francis Subject Collections is a collection of scientific journals containing 2,300 titles from 23 subject areas within the social sciences and humanities, natural and technical sciences, medicine, and public health. Content is available from 1997 to the present.

Wiley Online Library is a platform that provides access to a multidisciplinary collection containing more than 1,400 journals. The journals cover the fields of social sciences and humanities, natural and technical sciences, and medicine.

Open Access Databases

HRČAK is the central portal that brings together Croatian scientific and professional journals offering open access to their papers in one place. HRČAK also includes the Proceedings of Rijeka Faculty of Economics: Journal of Economics and Business.

CroRIS – CROSBI

Croatian Scientific Bibliography – CROSBI contains bibliographic data on the scientific and professional productivity of individuals within the science and higher education system of the Republic of Croatia.

CroRIS – CROSBI is part of CroRIS, the information system of science of the Republic of Croatia.

OATD.org is a platform that provides free access to a large number of dissertations and other academic publications.

DOAJ is a comprehensive collection of open access scientific and professional journals. DOAJ aims to include as many journals as possible from all scientific fields, while ensuring that they are valuable journals with verified content quality. Each included journal must have a peer-review process or editorial quality control, publish scientific content, be issued periodically, and be freely available in open access.

RePEc: Research Papers in Economics is a volunteer project and platform whose goal is to increase the availability of information in the field of economics. It provides data and access to numerous articles, software, working papers, book chapters, books, author information, and more. Full text is available for a large number of papers.

Specialised Search Engine

Google Scholar offers a simple way to broadly search scholarly literature. From one place, users can search across many scientific disciplines and sources, including peer-reviewed papers, books, abstracts, and articles published by academic publishers, professional societies, and other sources.
