Undergraduate Studies – Regulations, Decisions and Forms

Students wishing to defend their final thesis in the 2025/2026 academic year are required to comply with the following deadlines:

  1. By 24 April 2026, students must register their final thesis supervisor using the prescribed form and submit it to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office (Supervisor Registration Form).
  2. By 29 May 2026, students must submit the first draft of their final thesis to their supervisor for review, define the final thesis topic (title) using the prescribed form, and submit the form to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office (Thesis Topic Registration Form). The form may also be submitted after the stated deadline.
  3. No later than 14 September 2026, students must complete all examination requirements and submit to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office the completed Final Thesis Report Form, signed by the supervisor, in order to meet the requirements for applying for and enrolling in a graduate study programme.
  4. Undergraduate students who submit the Final Thesis Report after 14 September 2026 will not be eligible to apply for enrolment in a graduate study programme in the 2026/2027 academic year.
  5. The procedures for selecting a supervisor and for the registration, preparation and assessment of the final thesis are governed by the Regulations on the Final Thesis.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE UNDERGRADUATE UNIVERSITY STUDY PROGRAMME

In order for the completion of the study programme to be formally recorded, the supervisor shall submit to the Academic Records Office, either in person or via their official institutional e-mail address, the following documents:

  • the signed Final Thesis Report,
  • the approved version of the Final Thesis in PDF/A format (one file),
  • the Final Thesis Topic Registration Form (if the supervisor has not previously signed the Topic Registration Form; if submitted via the official institutional e-mail address, e.g. firstname.lastname@efri.uniri.hr, the form does not need to be signed and scanned),
  • the signed Confirmation of Final Thesis Defence.

In order for the completion of the study programme to be formally recorded, the student shall submit to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office:

  • an additional signed copy of the Statement included in the Final Thesis, for filing in the student’s personal record,
  • any other documents requested by the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office (e.g. confirmation from the Faculty Library that all borrowed books have been returned, a completed contact details form, etc.).

In order for the completion of the study programme to be formally recorded, the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office shall:

  • verify that the student has passed all examinations, fulfilled all other obligations prescribed by the curriculum of the undergraduate study programme, and obtained at least 176 or 175 ECTS credits, depending on the study programme in which the student is enrolled. If these requirements have not been met, the Office shall inform the supervisor and the student that the completion procedure cannot be finalised until all requirements have been fulfilled;
  • forward the Final Thesis in PDF/A format to the Faculty Library for verification and inclusion in the Faculty’s digital repository;
  • enter the Final Thesis grade into the ISVU system.

The Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office shall send the student, by e-mail, the forms to be completed, together with any other information relevant to the completion of the undergraduate study programme (payment details, surveys, etc.). Once the student has submitted all required documentation, the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office shall issue or send by e-mail a Certificate of Completion of Studies.

Students who participated in additional activities during their studies, such as serving as a student teaching assistant/demonstrator, receiving the Dean’s Award or the Rector’s Award, or participating in the Student Council, shall submit appropriate supporting documentation.

Graduate Studies – Regulations, Decisions and Forms

Students wishing to defend their graduate thesis in the 2025/2026 academic year are required to comply with the following deadlines:

  1. By 16 March 2026, students must register their graduate thesis supervisor using the prescribed form and submit it to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office (Supervisor Registration Form).
  2. By 24 April 2026, students must submit the first draft of their graduate thesis to their supervisor for review, define the graduate thesis topic (title) using the prescribed form, and submit the form to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office (Thesis Topic Registration Form). The form may also be submitted after the stated deadline.
  3. No later than 21 September 2026, students must complete all examination requirements and submit to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office the Graduate Thesis Report, signed by the supervisor, together with all other documentation required under the Regulations on the Graduate Thesis.
  4. All graduate thesis defences must be held no later than 30 September 2026.
  5. The procedures for selecting a supervisor and for the registration, preparation and assessment of the graduate thesis are governed by the Regulations on the Graduate Thesis.

Final and graduate theses that do not pass the originality check, or in which irregularities are identified after submission, will not be considered for defence in the 2025/2026 academic year. Students who fail to comply with the above deadlines cannot be guaranteed completion of their studies within the current academic year.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DEFENCE OF THE GRADUATE THESIS WITHIN A UNIVERSITY GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAMME

  1. Once the student has passed all examinations, fulfilled all other requirements prescribed by the study programme curriculum, and obtained at least 90, 105 or 285 ECTS credits, depending on the study programme in which the student is enrolled, the supervisor shall sign the Graduate Thesis Report.

    If these requirements have not been met, the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office shall inform the supervisor and the student that the defence cannot be held until all requirements have been fulfilled.

    1. Once the Graduate Thesis Report has been signed, the supervisor shall submit the following documents to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office by e-mail:

    a. the approved version of the thesis in PDF/A format;
    b. a statement in the e-mail confirming “Approved – cleared for defence”;
    c. the Graduate Thesis Topic Registration Form (if the supervisor has not previously signed the Topic Registration Form; if submitted via the official institutional e-mail address, e.g. firstname.lastname@efri.uniri.hr, the form does not need to be signed and scanned);
    d. the Graduate Thesis Report.

    Once the Graduate Thesis Report has been signed, the student shall submit:

    • to the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office, an additional signed copy of the Statement included in the Graduate Thesis, for filing in the student’s personal record;
    • any other documents requested by the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office (e.g. confirmation from the Faculty Library that all borrowed books have been returned, a completed contact details form, etc.).
    1. The Faculty Library shall inform the supervisor and the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office about the verification procedure and whether the thesis has been adequately prepared for inclusion in the Faculty’s digital repository. If the thesis has not been properly prepared, the Library shall also inform the student of the necessary amendments (e.g. a missing Statement at the end of the thesis, abstract, keywords, etc.).

    The Library shall also verify and inform the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office whether all borrowed books have been returned.

    Based on the Library’s feedback regarding the thesis verification, the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office, in consultation with the supervisor, shall appoint the Graduate Thesis Defence Committee and determine the date of the defence.

    1. Following the defence, the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office shall enter the graduate thesis grade into the ISVU system and provide or send by e-mail to the student the forms to be completed, together with any other information relevant to the completion of the graduate study programme (payment details, surveys, etc.).

    Once the student has submitted all required documentation, the Undergraduate and Graduate Studies Office shall issue or send by e-mail a Certificate of Awarded Academic Title.

    Students who participated in additional activities during their studies, such as serving as a student teaching assistant/demonstrator, receiving the Dean’s Award or the Rector’s Award, or participating in the Student Council, shall submit appropriate supporting documentation.

    Employee Accident Insurance

    Pursuant to Article 71 of the Basic Collective Agreement for Civil Servants and Employees in Public Services, the employer is required to provide employees with accident insurance coverage.

    In 2022, employees of the Faculty of Economics and Business were insured with Euroherc Insurance.
