Finding an Internship

Finding an internship begins with considering your interests, goals and the fields in which you want to develop your knowledge and skills. Think about what you would like to learn, the kind of workplace in which you see yourself and the skills you want to improve.

Researching organisations

You can explore organisations in two ways:

  1. Through the EFRI Internship Portal, which lists current opportunities and available places.
  2. By researching organisations independently and choosing one that interests you, whether or not it is already a Faculty partner.

As you research an organisation, look at what it does, the tasks it offers interns, the projects it carries out and how it presents itself through its communication channels.

Choose an organisation that can provide an internship in which you will be able to achieve the learning outcomes of the Internship course.

Selection process

After choosing an organisation, you may be invited to an interview or asked to complete a test. This allows the organisation’s mentors to assess your motivation, knowledge and interests, as well as how closely your goals align with its work.

To prepare for an interview, learn about the organisation, its projects and current activities, and the role of the mentor with whom you would work.

Proposing a new organisation

If the organisation you would like to join is not among the available options, you can propose it. Provide basic information about the organisation and explain why it would be a suitable internship host. Following a review, the organisation may be added to the system.

Choosing and reserving a place

Once you find an organisation that matches your interests and has an available place, review the description of the internship tasks and reserve the place through the Portal. This starts the formal application process. The organisation then carries out any selection or introductory steps.
