Professional training program based on an accredited study program
In a rapidly changing world, sustainable finance and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) criteria are becoming key competencies for professionals in finance, business, and management. This professional training program is based on an accredited study program of the Faculty of Economics and Business in Rijeka and is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to understand and apply sustainable financial instruments, assess ESG risks and opportunities, and integrate sustainability criteria into financial decision-making.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- explain the importance of sustainable finance as a prerequisite for achieving sustainable development in the business and financial sectors and modern economies
- identify and categorize the key elements and drivers of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria
- explain and compare types, risks, and opportunities of sustainable financial instruments available in international financial markets
- understand the legal and regulatory framework for sustainability reporting and sustainable finance in the EU and Croatia
- understand ESG risk management approaches
- apply and promote ESG-compliant business practices and sustainable behavior at the individual level
- critically evaluate issues related to misleading green marketing practices (greenwashing)

Program Duration: 2–4 semesters (depending on course schedules across faculties)
ECTS Credits: 10 ECTS
Completion Requirements: Passing final exams in all courses included in the program and enrollment in the program

The program is open to all full-time and part-time students of the University of Rijeka, as all included courses are offered as communis (shared) courses at the University or as elective courses within its faculties.
Application: No application is required.
Program Fee: The program is free of charge for all full-time and part-time students of the University of Rijeka.
