The Faculty of Economics and Business Rijeka offers an undergraduate university study programme in Business Economics (3 years, 180 ECTS credits).
The long-term work and effort invested in innovating the structure and improving the quality of the International Business programme have been recognized by the international accreditation institution European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), which awarded the programme its EPAS accreditation. At present, only about 115 study programmes at higher education institutions in the fields of management, economics, and business economics worldwide hold this accreditation.
Receiving the prestigious EPAS accreditation places the Faculty of Economics and Business Rijeka among the top 10% of the world’s best economics faculties and business schools.
The undergraduate university study programme in Business Economics offers the following majors in the full-time programme:

When enrolling in the first year, students choose the major they will follow during their studies.
WHAT STUDENTS LEARN AND DEVELOP
The study program is focused on the development of fundamental economic and business knowledge, as well as the acquisition of competencies necessary for understanding the functioning of business systems and organizations in a modern economic environment.
The acquired competencies are reflected in the ability to analyze, synthesize, and design solutions to problems in the fields of economics and business economics, develop critical thinking, demonstrate the ability for self-learning, connect knowledge and adapt to new circumstances (flexibility), creatively seek solutions to business problems, and perform highly qualified tasks in the field of economics and business economics.
Upon completion of the undergraduate study program in Business Economics, the student is qualified to:
Business Knowledge
- interpret fundamental models, concepts, and principles in the field of business economics
- explain entrepreneurship and the principles, organization, techniques, and methods of conducting business at national, regional, and international levels
- distinguish basic categories of business operations in the areas of management, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and international business
Thinking Skills
- collect data and propose well-argued solutions to less complex problems in business economics
- apply basic statistical and quantitative methods
- critically evaluate fundamental economic concepts and quantitative and qualitative information for business decision-making
Communication
- present information, ideas, problems, and solutions in the field of business economics orally and/or in writing
- develop, prepare, and present solutions within a team
Business Ethics
- formulate and prepare conclusions related to relevant social and/or ethical issues in the areas of management, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and international business
- recognize and analyze ethical challenges
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AND FURTHER EDUCATION
Depending on the chosen field of study, the acquired qualification of Bachelor of Economics enables students to enter the workforce directly and perform demanding professional work in companies, public enterprises, and government administration.
Some of the positions for which graduates in economics are qualified include lower- and middle-level management roles, directors of small and medium-sized enterprises and institutions, business and organizational specialists, experts in finance and banking, analysts, as well as PR and HR specialists.
Upon completion of the undergraduate university study program, the student earns a minimum of 180 ECTS credits and meets the requirements for enrollment in an appropriate graduate (master’s) university program.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND ENROLLMENT PROCEDURE
The right to enroll in the undergraduate university study program in Business Economics is granted to candidates who have completed a four-year secondary school, passed the state graduation exam (Matura), and met the requirements for enrollment in the first year of study.
Full-time students enroll in the program with financial support from the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth and are entitled to benefits such as health insurance, subsidized meals, and accommodation in student dormitories.
Candidates who completed a four-year secondary school before 2010 are not required to take the state graduation exam.

COST OF STUDY
Full-time students enroll in the program with financial support from the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth and are entitled to benefits such as health insurance, subsidized meals, and accommodation in student dormitories.
The enrollment fee amounts to €58.20 for students from European Union member states.
