Summary
CROSS-REIS is a project funded under the Horizon Programme, aimed at enhancing excellence in science and value creation through deeper and geographically inclusive collaboration within an alliance of higher education and research institutions across five emerging European countries and four leading scientific European countries. The project supports the transition toward a regenerative economy paradigm.
The global competitiveness and visibility of higher education institutions in emerging countries are to be improved by creating a critical mass of knowledge and research through collaboration with leading European research institutions in the field of regenerative economy, directly aligned with the twin green and digital transition.
This will be achieved through clearly defined and measurable sub-objectives:
- achieving a more balanced circulation of talent, leading to a diverse and inclusive research community and innovative research outcomes, through exchanges, short visits, and conference participation
- strengthening the role of higher education institutions within innovation ecosystems by bringing in additional expertise and resources from leading European research-intensive institutions to support the development of innovative ideas
- introducing practices and tools for open knowledge and data sharing
- advancing the reform of research assessment systems, including career evaluation
- improving links between science and business by providing access to networks, resources, and expertise to support business partnerships and collaboration
- promoting gender equality, diversity, and inclusiveness
- accelerating the green and digital transition of society in line with the European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda Action 11
- fostering collaboration with entities from third countries in line with ERA Policy Agenda Action 9
- contributing to the empowerment of universities as key actors of change in research and innovation (R&I) by promoting cross-sector collaboration and enhancing their capacity for knowledge valorization, thereby strengthening excellence in science
